Learning how to teach is fun! It’s important that Scuba Diving is taught with a passion. A passion that is first learned during your Open Water Course, and then a desire to help others.
It’s so very important that PADI Instructor Development Courses teach new Instructors how to teach individual people. It’s all very well passing the PADI Instructor Exam, but how prepared are new Instructors to teach in the real world?
latest PADI IDC at Emperor Divers in Sharm el Sheikh. We had a lot of fun, and a lot of laughter.
We started with the EFR instructor course. Here we learned that all of our students are individual people with individual learning styles. We discussed various ways that we could allow people to learn and develop skills without traditionally “teaching” them. Using simple psychology, we learnt some very successful techniques that make teaching people fun.
During the PADI IDC, learnt how to develop these techniques to teach Scuba Diving. We learnt how to “Cut the Crap” and make our teaching very powerful by allowing our students to naturally develop.
Of course methods also allowed our candidates to pass the PADI Instructor Exam with flying colours.
I know that all three new instructors will be very successful in the real world, I’m looking forward to seeing them grow as instructors. I’m sure it won’t be long before they will attend a PADI Staff Instructor Course!
