Didn’t we have a lovely time teaching a PADI Open Water Course for Ocean View!  And very busy we have been too! We were teaching PADI Open Water Course for Ocean View. Five Open Water Courses,  4 Dry Suit Specialties and 1 Scuba Diver cert.

A fantastic  achievement from all of the attentive students that kept laughing and enthusiastic the whole time. Some of the student divers had already completed 1 or 2 open water dives already.  So on every dive, the student divers were performing different skills from each other! It meant the briefings were different for each student diver, but actually, it was really beneficial to them as they had a preview of what they would be doing on their next dive.

Dan was first to qualify as he needed to just upgrade the PADI Scuba Diver cert he earned on holiday. Once his qualifying dives were completed, he wasted no time in exploring Divers Cove with his buddies from the dive club. Then came David, who qualified as a very happy PADI Scuba Diver.  Due to lack of time David had to leave after the first day, but seeing how enthusiastic he was, I’m sure he will be back to upgrade his certification as soon as time permits.

Next to qualify were Jane and Tim, Dan’s parents. They had been egged on to become divers by Dan who has been completely bitten by the diving bug. They’d  already completed Dive 1 of the course and had been putting in some extra practice in the pool at Ocean View.  It really paid off when they got back into open water.  It was delightful to see them diving as a buddy team, with great buoyancy control in dry suits, on their last qualifying dive. Karla was next to complete the course.

Karla commented it was made easier because on each dive, there was a chance to see the skills that she would be doing on her next dive. Last to qualify was Dom! He was only last because his neck seal split and he slipped a dive behind the rest of the team.  Dom really was a star and not just because of the amount of costume changes he made during the weekend!

Thank you to all the student divers. It was great to meet you all and we hope to catch up with you at Ocean View and hear about your dives.  Maybe we will dive together again in the future.
