Your PADI Instructor Development Course will undoubtedly be the most important Scuba Diving Course that you’ll ever take in your life. It’s the course where you’ll learn how to be successful as a future instructor, and it’s the course that will teach you so many fantastic techniques that will make you popular.

Not all PADI IDCs are the same, and not all Course Directors are the same. You need to research carefully to make sure that the money that you’ll spend for your IDC is worthwhile. Far too many people get carried away looking for an exotic location to do their course. They are swayed by the same emotions that we use when we are choosing a holiday. Over the years I’ve had so many emails or phone calls from people telling me that they chose to travel to an exotic location, only to find a very poor quality PADI IDC where the trainers had very little concern for the candidates.

Of course it’s OK to travel far and wide to take your training, as long as you have done your research, and you know for sure that you’re going to be looked after.  I have compiled a “Top Ten” list of tips on how to choose an IDC, and how to make the most out of it. You’ll find it here: TOP TEN TIPS.

Of course the only real way to find out if your IDC is going to be the right one for you is to ask questions – many questions. If the answers that you get back don’t seem right to you, please think very carefully before you part with your cash. You’ll only ever take one IDC in your life. Make sure that it prepares you properly for the exciting life that is ahead of you.
