The New Horizons PADI IDC started on 11th March for Charlie, Jason and  Paul.
They soon got into the swing of things and were joking and laughing right from the beginning.  Paul showed his acting ability, and kept us amused from start to finish.

John Harvey and John Mitchell were both staffing thePADI IDC and gave great help to the candidates.

We started by settling down with an orientation session and then discussed various teaching techniques.

The next day, we learnt all of the tips and tricks that instructors use to make sure that the information given in classroom presentations stick!  All of the team agreed that they learnt a lot about teaching.

The first pool session was a lot of fun and we finished off by having a DSD Workshop. This gave everyone a great chance to mess around, and give their team mates loads of problems!

Teamwork at IDC in March 2011

The fun continued to open water. By now the camaraderie had built into great teamwork. The weather was great! Despite being early March, the sun was shining, and the water didn’t seem as cold as the 6 degrees that our computers were showing. After a couple of dives, and some welcome hot chocolate, the team were ready to practice some Rescue Skills

After a quick demonstration, using both pocket masks, and mouth to mouth, the candidates did their best to ignore their numbed fingers and went on to prove that they could save each others lives!

By the end of the day, all three were unanimous in agreeing that they had learned so much during their PADI IDC and they felt that they were more than ready for the Instructors Exam.
